THE EXPERIENCE
This is not just about learning how to paint outdoors, but about spending time observing, working, and experiencing a place through art and language.
Spend one week in Southern Italy painting en plein air in extraordinary locations — between nature, history, and Mediterranean light. Guided by professional artists, you will work directly from life, developing your ability to observe, interpret, and translate what you see into a personal visual language. As the days unfold, painting becomes a way of engaging with the landscape more attentively — following the changes of light, the rhythm of the environment, and the subtle relationships between color and atmosphere. At the same time, you will engage with the Italian language in a natural and continuous way. It will not feel like a separate activity, but something that accompanies the experience — emerging through conversations, shared moments, and the daily life surrounding your work.
PAINTING FROM LIFE
Working from life means slowing down. It means learning to look before painting.
Throughout the week, you will be guided through a process that focuses on light, color, and composition, but also on the ability to select, simplify, and interpret what you see. The sessions are rooted in the tradition of European landscape painting — from Impressionism to Divisionism and the Italian Macchiaioli — always bringing everything back to direct practice and to your relationship with what is in front of you.
LANGUAGE AS EXPERIENCE
Language becomes part of the process in a natural way.
There are no rigid separations between lessons and activities: Italian accompanies the experience, supports it, and deepens it. You learn by speaking, listening, and being in real situations.
That is what makes it effective.
ART, PLACE, CONTEXT
The locations are not just settings.
Paestum, the coastline, the natural landscapes, and the villages all become an active part of the experience. Each place brings a different quality of light, a different visual structure, and a different sense of time.
The program includes guided moments that help you read these contexts, connecting artistic practice with history.
